Never stop dreaming Dream Catcher

I have just finished a card I am quite happy with.  Although the inspiration piece from this months Kaisercraft May Card Challenge is in there, the colours are not quite right, but this is were it came from.

 

I searched my stash of Kaisercraft paper pads (yes I do have quite a few), but I could not exactly match the colours.  Hopefully the pearls and feather shapes are enough of a connection.  Here is my card:
 

 

The card was made using two recent purchases, the Dream Catcher decorative dies and the Dream Big decorative die & stamp set together with Dream Big 6 1/2" paper pad, Latte pearls and Sage weave card stock, all from Kaisercraft.

 

I really like the matching die & stamp set, but the Dream Catcher dies are slightly larger, fit well on an A6 card front, and compliment the stamp set beautifully.  Big ticks all round.  It's only the second time I have used these dies, but they are so versatile, I'm sure they will be running through my die cutting machine very soon.

I have taken a giant leap (for me) into selling my handmade items online.  I have been selling at a local market for over 10 years, but this is new territory for me.  Actually this whole on-line blog and selling thing is all new, and I am learning as I go.

I have started with a few wire bound journals, and plan to add more when I get the time.  Later I may add my handmade cards, but this is a start.

This is my spiel:

Handmade wire bound journals, created from the remains of timeworn books.  The covers and internal pages have been combined with fresh pages, honoring the soul of the original book.
Each journal is truly one-of-a-kind.
I hope my handmade items provide a pleasant surprise for yourself or the lucky recipient.

I deconstruct old hardcover books by removing the front and back covers, spine and internal pages.  I keep about 20-40 of the original pages and add 30-60 new pages.  The books are then bound again using wire.
 
I would love you to have a look, and welcome your thoughts on my setup so far.  It is amazing how long it takes to get the logistics, like store information and postage, worked out (for a newbie like me anyway).

Sympathy card for beloved dog

Today I made a simple card for a family who, last week, lost one of their beloved dogs, Sophie. 

The cute animal stamp is from Magenta, although I don't know the name of it (if you do, please send me a message).  I used my MISTI to position the sentiment from the Paper Smooches Sentiment Sampler set.  A little shading using E50 and a touch of E31 Copics gives the image some pop.

Die cut using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles and mounted on a foam sheet to give some dimension.

Beautiful Dreamer Colour Palette Class

On Saturday 7 May I attended a class at Little Bits in Keysborough entitled Colour Palette of the Month.  Lesley, the store owner describes the class:

We will work with colours which make you think outside the square. A different palette will be chosen each month. Come on! Dare to be different! A 6x6” paper pad is included in the class and is yours to take home.

 As small class of 13, we made 5 cards using the Bo Bunny Beautiful Dreamer Collection 6x6" pad.

There are 12 different patterns in the 36 page pad, and we used all of them in our cards.  We were also provided with a few additional supplies including use of the Kaisercraft Dream Catcher die (which I have now purchased).  I have lots of left over pages to be used in future projects.

A Bohemian Garden Wedding

Today's creation, two lovely Wedding cards, inspired by the Essentials by Ellen APRIL Pin-Sights Challenge and the beautiful watercolour floral wreath card made by Yoosun Hur.

I stamped second generation images from the Essentials by Ellen Bohemian Garden stamp set with various Distress Inks on watercolour paper.  A little water and a paint brush was used move the colour around.  A little extra colour was added with the paint brush by smooshing the ink pad (onto a laminated piece of white card stock) and diluting with water.  Once dry, I added some silver paint splatters. 

The beautiful "Mr & Mrs" sentiment from Mama Elephant's Bountiful Blessings set was stamped on vellum with Versamark ink and then embossed with WOW Metallic Silver embossing powder. Cut out using a circle stitched die, and attached with little dots of Multi Medium Mate (I love that stuff).

I procrastinated with various enamel dots, sequins, pearls and rhinestones, but they all seemed a bit heavy, so Clear Wink of Stella to the rescue.  It adds a nice subtle shimmer (which is very difficult to see in the photo).

One card has a purple shimmer layer that was repurposed from an envelope, and mounted onto a silver card base.  The other is a fine corrugated silver card I have had for years.
